Ultimaker announced as leading IDC Innovator

Ultimaker is proud to announce that it was given the accolade of “a compelling and differentiated 3D printing solution” in the latest IDC Innovators report, published by International Data Corporation (IDC) on September 13, 2018.

The report, IDC Innovators: Plastic-Based 3D Printing, 2018, profiles the top emerging vendors with plastic-based 3D printing solutions that offer an innovative new technology, a groundbreaking approach to an existing issue, and an interesting new business model.

These vendors are creating important breakthroughs that address and solve some of the challenges that end users in a number of industries have identified with and can relate to. If you are a user, and you think you are up-to-date on what 3D printing can offer or how your company can use it, follow innovative companies like these that are changing basic assumptions about the technology.
Tim Greene, Research Director at IDC's Hardcopy Solutions group

Ultimaker was highlighted for leveraging its position as an open systems supplier of 3D printers to work more closely with industrial plastics manufacturers to develop materials for use in specific industries.

To create high-quality 3D prints, industry professionals need more industrial material profiles that are fully aligned with both the hardware and software. Addressing this important need is the exact purpose of our new, global material alliance and we are therefore extremely proud that IDC has acknowledged our initiatives in this field by announcing Ultimaker as one of IDC’s leading innovators in 3D printing.
Jos Burger, CEO at Ultimaker

The strategic alliances formed with these global material companies opens up the use of the most sophisticated engineering plastics on Ultimaker printers, allowing the customers of the companies and Ultimaker to fully embed 3D printing in their existing workflows.

“We consider ourselves to have a duty to continuous innovation within the 3D printing industry and to be acknowledged by IDC in this way is testament to our strong commitment.”
